Volcanos National Park
Volcanoes National Park, located in northwestern Rwanda, is famous for being home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Covering 160 square kilometers, the park is part of the Virunga Mountain range and features a chain of dormant volcanoes. It is one of the few places in the world where visitors can trek to observe gorillas in their natural habitat. In addition to gorillas, the park also hosts golden monkeys, various bird species, and lush vegetation. Volcanoes National Park is significant for conservation and was once the research base of famed primatologist Dian Fossey.
